Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork. Vadim Shipachyov Jersey .com) - Sidney Crosby had four assists and the Pittsburgh Penguins extended their home winning streak over the Tampa Bay Lightning to nine games with a 6-3 victory on Friday night. Steve Downie returned to score twice for Pittsburgh after missing the last five games because of the mumps and Evgeni Malkin, Chris Kunitz, Andrew Ebbett and Christian Ehrhoff also found the net in the teams second consecutive win after four straight losses. Thomas Greiss also played for the first time since contracting the mumps last month and made 32 saves. We got some more guys back. I think that gave us a boost, said Crosby. Hopefully we can feed off that and keep playing the right way. Brian Boyle, Victor Hedman and Alex Killorn scored for Tampa Bay, which had a four-game winning streak snapped. Pittsburgh moved ahead of Tampa Bay for first place in the Eastern Conference with 53 points. Montreal tied the Lightning for first place in the Atlantic with a win over New Jersey on Friday. The Lightning have been outscored 48-19 while losing all nine games they have played at Consol Energy Center, which opened in 2010. Their last win in Pittsburgh came March 31, 2010. It was an interesting day for the Penguins, who dealt forward Rob Klinkhammer and a 2015 first-round draft pick to Edmonton for forward David Perron. Pittsburgh coach Mike Johnston confirmed that Malkin and teammate Craig Adams were involved in a scrap during practice earlier Friday in which punches were thrown. Small fight, but nothing bad, Malkin said after the game. We talked after practice. Much of the game was played with three officials after referee Mike Leggo vomited on the ice during the first period and skated off with what the NHL said was an illness. Play was stopped for several minutes while the ice was cleaned. The Penguins took a 3-0 lead after just 13:39 to chase Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop, who faced just 10 shots. Evgeni Nabokov gave up two goals on 18 shots after that. You cant give a team like that a three-goal lead and expect to win, said Lightning captain Steven Stamkos. Still, Pittsburgh had to fight off two Tampa Bay rallies to secure the win. Tampa Bay defenseman Anton Stralman was sent off for tripping just 1:36 into the first period and Pittsburgh scored 20 seconds later when Kunitz buried a rebound behind Bishop from beside the net as he was being shoved to the ice. Five minutes later, the horn sounded prematurely after Malkin clanked a shot off the goal post. Amid the distraction, Ebbett flipped a backhand over Bishops glove for his first goal since March 14, 2013, with Vancouver. Bishop was pulled after letting a rebound trickle off his pads to the other side of the crease, where Malkin hammered it in to make it 3-0. Later, Boyle got Tampa Bay on the board with 4:49 left in the first, scoring from in front of the crease after Ondrej Palat used his skate to stop Matthew Carles sharp pass from behind the net. Hedman pulled the Lightning within 3-2 at 12:48 of the second period, but Ehrhoff restored Pittsburghs two-goal advantage just over four minutes later on a slap shot from the point. Killorns goal 11:18 into the third period again brought the Lightning within one after he fought off defenseman Simon Despres down the right side and took the puck across the crease to beat a sprawled Greiss. But Downie countered for Pittsburgh just 34 seconds later, waiting out Victor Hedman as the defenseman went to the ice to stop a potential shot, then firing a wrister past Nabokov from the left circle. Downie cored his second goal into an empty net in the final seconds. It was the third game between the teams in 19 days. The Penguins earned a 4-2 win in Pittsburgh on Dec. 15 and the Lightning carried a 4-3 decision in Tampa Bay on Dec. 23, snapping a 10-game losing streak in the series. They will not face each other again this season. Game Notes Ebbett recorded two points on his 32nd birthday ... The Lightning continue a four-game road trip on Sunday in Ottawa ... The Penguins continue a four-game homestand on Saturday against Montreal. David Perron Jersey .com) - The Carolina Panthers won for the first time in seven games last week, were without Cam Newton due to a car accident this week, but somehow sit atop the much-maligned NFC South. Nicolas Hague Jersey . Although Olivetti, a qualifier, had 13 aces, he failed to force a single break-point chance on Gasquets serve and lost his own three times. Gasquet next plays third-seeded Jerzy Janowicz of Poland, who won had 18 aces in a 6-2, 6-4 win against seventh-seeded Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France. Each week, takes a look at the top storylines in the NFL and gives you all you need to know heading into Sundays action. All in! Breaking the 7-5 logjam Six teams in the AFC are tied for the final wild card spot with a 7-5 record, three in the AFC North alone. The quickest way to break that logjam down the regular season stretch is head-to-head matchups amongst the six teams. That’s what we get when the Baltimore Ravens travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Neither team has inspired much confidence of late. The Ravens are coming off a loss and haven’t beaten an above .500 team since Week 3. The Dolphins won last week, but only barely against a brutal New York Jets team. Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill has impressed this season, and it’s looking like he could be the real deal. It will be interesting to see how he plays down the stretch in a high-pressure situation. The big games for him start Sunday against the Ravens. Hanging On The Bills are hanging in there. After a disheartening loss to the Dolphins two weeks ago, Buffalo ripped off back-to-back wins against the Jets and Browns and are now tied for the final wild card spot with five other teams. They were perhaps prematurely written off after losing to Miami but if they can’t get by the Broncos – and Vegas sure doesn’t think they will – it may actually be time to start thinking about next year. Another team just holding on, but in a much different situation, is the Arizona Cardinals. A couple weeks ago the Cardinals were the NFL’s sweetheart with a league-best 9-1 record. Two Drew Stanton starts later and Arizona looking over their shoulder at the Seahawks (one game behind) and the 49ers (two games behind). Like the Bills, the Cardinals face a strong AFC West team in the Kansas City CChiefs. Stefan Matteau Jersey. NFC Heavyweight Battle At least the Cardinals can take solace in the fact Seattle has a tough matchup as well. The Seahawks take on the NFC East leading Philadelpia Eagles and their 6-0 home record. Seattle’s road record is only mediocre but if there’s a defence to make Eagles’ QB Mark Sanchez look like Jets’ QB Mark Sanchez, it’s the Seahawks’. Seattle has the top overall defence and is third best against the pass. They also have one of the league’s best turnover ratios. If Sanchez can find a way to win Sunday, he may have a job for the rest of the year and into the playoffs. Something to Prove? The Chargers should be feeling pretty good about themselves after last week. They squeaked out a win against the Ravens, their third in a row, to take sole possession of the first wild card spot. Their reward for the big week is a home game, nice, but against a New England Patriots team that has lots to prove. The Pats are coming off a hard fought loss to the Green Bay Packers in what many dubbed a Super Bowl preview. They also have no wiggle room left for the first overall seed in the AFC now with matching records with the Broncos. Battle atop the AFC North It sounds weird to say, but the AFC North is tied for the best division in football. All four teams are above .500 and have combined for 29 wins on the season. That’s part of what makes this underrated rivalry game even better. Thanks to a three-game win streak the Bengals are a half-point out of a first round bye while the Steelers, also one of the 7-5 six, are at risk of not making the playoffs at all. Cincy has one of the better defences in the league and will need a big game to stop Big Ben, Le’Veon Bell, and the surprisingly high-powered Steelers offence.
