PHOENIX -- Mark Trumbos bat put a dent in San Franciscos NL West hopes. Jaron Brown Seahawks Jersey . Wade Mileys left arm didnt do the Giants any favours either. Trumbo hit a grand slam off Ryan Vogelsong, Miley pitched seven effective innings and the Giants dropped further behind in the NL West with a 6-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday night. Joaquin Arias had three hits and Buster Posey a run-scoring single for the Giants, who dropped four games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. "They scored all three runs with two outs," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "We had a couple of pretty good opportunities, but couldnt get it close enough to put a little more pressure on them." A pair of losses to the Dodgers over the weekend hurt San Franciscos NL West chances, but the Giants were still in control of the NL wild card, entering Mondays game three games up on Pittsburgh for the top spot. What the Giants couldnt afford was a letdown in a three-game series at Chase Field, where they had won 16 of 22 games and six straight series since 2012. The start of this series against the struggling Diamondbacks didnt go so well. Miley (8-11) bounced back from his shortest outing of the season by slowing down his mechanics, allowing one run. Trumbo started Arizonas homestand strong and kept it going against the Giants, hitting his ninth homer off Vogelsong (8-11) in the third inning and a run-scoring single off Juan Gutierrez in the seventh. Trumbo has six hits and nine RBIs the past three games. "Hes kind of hitting his stride lately, swinging the bat much better, more comfortable," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said of Trumbo. Vogelsong pitched 6 2-3 scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks his last outing, but was in trouble by the third in his 30th start of the season. The Diamondbacks loaded the bases against him and Trumbo cashed in, ending a 120 at-bat homerless streak by lifting his second career grand slam just over the wall in right. Arizona loaded the bases again in the sixth against Vogelsong, but Javier Lopez ended the threat by inducing a groundout on his first pitch. Vogelsong allowed four runs and six hits with four walks and five strikeouts. It was a bad inning; it wasnt very good," Vogelsong said. Miley had his shortest outing of the season his last start against the Giants, lasting just two innings after giving up three runs and five hits. The left-hander tried to throw too hard in that outing and spent the days in between trying to slow things down. He did against the Giants in his 100th career start, escaping a jam in the second inning and giving up one run on Brandon Crawfords groundout in the seventh. "Youve just got to put those behind you -- those (games) are going to happen," said Miley, who struck out four. "Youve just got to make adjustments and go on to the next one." PAGAN OUT Giants OF Angel Pagan tried to play Monday night despite a stiff back. When his back was still tight during batting practice, the Giants pulled him from the lineup, hoping that hed be able to play Tuesday after receiving treatment. "We miss him when he is not in the lineup," Bochy said. "We are a different club. He is our leadoff hitter, our catalyst. He is the guy that kind of makes things go. RISP TROUBLES The Giants had been on a tear with runners in scoring position, hitting .361 over the past 18 games. They couldnt come through against Arizona, going 2 for 10 while stranding nine runners. TRAINERS ROOM Giants: 1B Brandon Belt was activated before the game after clearing concussion protocols. He had been on the DL since Aug. 8. Diamondbacks: OF David Peralta (back) has resumed all baseball activities and could join Arizona for its final road trip. UP NEXT Giants: RHP Jake Peavy, Tuesdays starter against Arizona, has allowed two earned runs or less in six straight starts. He pitched 5 2-3 innings of one-run ball in a 6-2 victory over Arizona on Thursday. Diamondbacks: RHP Josh Collmenter is 2-0 with a 0.65 ERA over his last four starts, leaving him one win shy of matching his career high of 10. Will Dissly Seahawks Jersey . INJURIES - Reds RF Jay Bruce is facing knee surgery for a torn meniscus and it could cost him a month of playing time. Chris Heisey, who has shown some pop (43 home runs, . Now they know theyll have home-ice advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs. David Krejci also scored for the Bruins and Patrice Bergeron extended his consecutive point streak to 11 games, setting up Boychuks go-ahead score. Wayne Simmonds and Jay Rosehill scored for the Flyers, who are in a tight race with a group of teams for a playoff spot. "Every game is a must-win," Flyers captain Claude Giroux said. "There are a lot of teams behind us trying to make the playoffs. We have played good enough to be in the position we are right now and we cant forget that. We have to remember that we are a good team and we are in this position because we did a lot of good things this year." Tuukka Rask stopped 24 shots for the Bruins, who had lost their past two games. Ray Emery made 37 saves for the Flyers. Philadelphia has lost three straight. Emery hopes the Flyers can turn thiings around quickly. Michael Dickson Jersey. "The playoffs come fast and if youre not playing well, normally you see yourselves out pretty quick," he said. "So we definitely want to be sharp going in." Bergeron won a faceoff cleanly back to Boychuk, who fired a slap shot past Emerys glove for the go-ahead goal. Lucic scored less than a minute later and Chris Kelly added an empty-netter with 21 seconds to play. The teams were tied 2-2 entering the third period after the Flyers came back twice. Trailing 1-0, the Flyers snapped a lengthy scoreless stretch on Simmonds power-play goal 14:36 into the second when he gained possession of a shot off the back boards and slipped a backhand behind Rask. Philadelphia was shut out in its past two games, and it halted the scoreless stretch at 165:01. But Boston regained the lead 19 seconds later when Krejci circled the net and fed Lucic, who one-timed a shot past Emery from the slot. Philadelphia then tied it at 2 when Rosehill collected Michael Raffls pass alone at the bottom of the right circle, spun quickly and beat Rask inside the far post at 16:21. Krejcis goal 15:56 into the first period gave Boston a 1-0 lead. He scored off the rebound of Loui Erikssons shot, collecting the puck and shifting to his right before firing a wrist shot into the open side of the net. NOTES: Boston F Jarome Iginla was sidelined for the second time in three games, moving Eriksson to the top line. The team said the first one was because of a lower body injury, but didnt have injury details of this one before the game. "Its very minor," Julien said. "More of a maintenance day." ...
